Building and Maintaining Relationships with Multilingual Students and their Families

While the COVID-19 pandemic is a moment of unprecedented educational crisis, it’s also a unique opportunity to transform our approaches to supporting multilingual learners. How might we improve distance learning for these students by exploring what they are doing at home? Understanding Language’s Annie Camey Kuo, GSE’s Professor Ramón Martinez, and Tulare County Office of Education’s Alesha Ramirez emphasized the importance of building and maintaining relationships with multilingual students and their families during this exceptional year and shared a conversation guide during a GSE Alumni Workshop titled “Tapping into Learning at Home: Connecting with Multilingual Students and Families to Enhance Distance Learning.”
